When did you start doing CrossFit?
I’ve been doing CrossFit for about a near now
What is your favorite CrossFit Movement and Why?
It’s not specifically a CrossFit movement, but I really enjoy deadlifts. I’ve also been recently having a lot of fun with the snatch.
What is your least favorite CrossFit movement and why?
It’s hard to choose just one but I’d say it’s a tie between Wall Balls and Burpees. While not specifically a CrossFit movement, running does get a honorable mention.
What is your sport, health or fitness background?
I played Football and I wrestled in High School
How did you first get exposed to CrossFit? Take us back to your first WOD… what was it and how did it feel?
I was really just looking for a way to be active and keep myself accountable so I started looking at CrossFit and with classes offered I thought it would be a great place to get fit. As for my first WOD, I don’t remember exactly what it was but I definitely remember that I felt like I was going to die and wanted to stop a couple times but I made it through it.
What sort of changes have you seen in your body, health and fitness since starting CrossFit? (Before and After)
Before CrossFit I was in a pretty unhealthy state physically, I had gained about 40 pounds in the 2 years since high school, where I was already overweight, and my overall fitness level was pretty bad. Since starting CrossFit I’ve lost about 40 pounds and built a lot of strength in the process. I’ve had more energy and I feel less stressed after a workout. I’ve also been able to do much more in workouts and push myself farther than I expected when I started.
Share with us your favorite Canandaigua CrossFit memory/moment?
If I had to choose, it would probably be the Thanksgiving WOD last year. There was so many people and it was really cool seeing everyone work together.
Do you have any advice for people who are just getting started?
Be proud of the effort you put into each workout. It can be intimidating seeing people fly through a workout if you are struggling, but as long as you do your best, it doesn’t really matter. The fact you made it through and didn’t give up is something to be proud of.
Outside of CrossFit what other hobbies and/or talents do you have?
I’ve been an avid gamer for most of my life. Currently I’ve been playing a lot of competitive online card games.
